Semilac Hybrid Gel Polish Swatches and Review

Image
Hi Everyone, A few weeks ago I was sent some gel polishes from Semilac UK to swatch and review, unfortunately my current illness hasn't been playing ball so this review has been a bit delayed but I wanted to give them a wear test before posting anything as I hadn't tried them before. Semilac is a brand from Poland which has now been launched in the UK and you may know it more from the face of the brand - Amy Childs. The press info I received with my polishes says - 'The highly pigmented nature of the range creates intense colour that means often one coat of Semilac polish is required to last up to four weeks. Semilac also offers a high building formula used to extend the nail plate by up to 5mm.' 'Competitively priced at £8 per bottle, Semilac's range is a highly durable, long lasting and striking nail range that rivals the top gel nail polish brands currently on the market' So after reading all of this I was keen to get these on my nails. I was...

The Edge Nail FX Soak off gel Review and Swatches

Image
Hi everyone, So the lovely people at The Edge Nails sent me some of their gel polish range to review. These are a solvent free 100% pure gel so great for the natural nail. They retail at £8.95 +VAT I got sent a base and top coat plus 2 surprise colours. As with all gel polishes you need to prep the nails before you start - remove all traces of polish push back cuticles and make sure the nail is clean of excess skin then dehydrate the nail using acetone or a gel wipe off - this is an important step to ensure your nail is free of any oils which can affect the longevity of your manicure. Now you can apply a thin coat of base coat and cure for 2 mins in a UV lamp or 1 min in a LED (I have acrylic overlays so don't need a base coat but I desperately need to do my infills so did use the base to protect the nail at the cuticle) I then applied 2 thin coats of colour curing each layer for 1 min in my LED lamp (2 in UV) and finally topped with the topcat and cured (1 min LE...

Candy Coat Swatches and Review

Image
Happy Friday Nail Peeps, I was lucky enough to be sent some polishes from Candy Coat to try recently - this is a gel polish brand I have been eyeing up for a while now so I was very excited when they offered to send me some. Along with their Pick 'n' Mix shop where you can buy the colours you want they also offer 2 monthly boxes - a subscription box which each month comes with 3 gels and additional goodies or  a colour box which each month comes with 10 must have colours and a top and base coat. I got to choose 2 colours to try and there are so many to choose from it was a tough choice but eventually I managed it. I also got sent a top and base coat. My 1st thought when I received my box was how beautifully packaged it was, the box is really cute and the bottles were in little paper bags which reminded me of my holidays! These are the goodies I received - a dusky rose (075) a baby blue - had to have a blue! (025) base coat (black bottle) and top coat (white bottle) ...

Holo Nails - how to and how I created my pink bling mani

Image
Happy Monday Lovelies, I hope you have all had a great bank holiday weekend? Mine hasn't quite gone to plan so I thought I would bring you this post on how I created my latest Gel Mani. I often like to use gel on my nails as I can then forget about them for a week or so and they still look perfect, I am fully qualified in gel polish application and as it's a treatment I offer my clients I have a huge range of colours  - If you would like to see more gel polish posts please let me know. Anyway I was very excited because last week I managed to get my hands on the amazing new Holo Pigment from Magpie Beauty . For those of you unfamiliar with magpie they have a fabulous line of glitters, dusts and pigments which my clients go crazy for. Now the new release of Aurora sold out so quickly but I managed to get one so knew I needed to use it. This is the pigment and a peek of my mani - how amazing is that pigment. I decided that I needed to have a bit of fun and create a ful...

Bundle Monster Cali Dreamin' gel polish collection

Image
Hello Nail Lovelies, I have some swatches for you today. I was so excited when the lovely Annette of Rainbow Connection announced she would be stocking the new Bundle Monster gel polishes because not only do the colours look fab but I am having a real love affair with gel at the moment so I new I needed them. I have swatched these over my acrylics so didn't need any base coat but if you are using these on natural nails you need to use your chosen gel base coat and cure for the required time - don't forget to prepare the nail 1st by pushing back the cutilcles, removing any dead skin from the nail and giving them a wipe with nail prep. I then swatched using 2 coats of colour and curing each coat for 45 seconds in my LED lamp and top coated with Bluesky no cleanse top coat which I cured for 60 seconds in my LED lamp. I also used a Miss Sporty Peel off Base Coat which made the job so much easier as I was able to just peel off each colour instead of filing or faffing wit...
