Dixie Plates DP05 swatches and review

Happy Wednesday readers,

I have some swatches today of a new plate I got last week and its the new Dixie Plate.
Dixie Plates is the fab new stamping brand created by the amazing Kate Dix (DixieGirl) and I love them. Currently there are 5 plates in the collection and I do have them all but today I am focusing on the newest plate which is the Halloween and Celebrations plate.

I got my plate in the UK from the equally amazing Sarah Richardson (The Real Mrs Grey) who now has her own shop NailStampingQueenUK (she was selling through etsy) where you can get all the Dixie Plate range plus other stamping and nail art goodies.

So this is the plate and it is full of fantastic images.

This post is all about these great halloween images

And here are my swatches -

This shows the skulls stamped on black with white and then all the others are stamped with black. I love the skeleton image on my little finger and the grim reaper over green.

The moon and bats are stamped in white over black and all the others are stamped in black. The little girl is from the scene image on the plate which I love and the haunted house (on purple) is one of my favourites. Also how intricate is that sugar skull - it just shows the quality of these plates.

These images are all taken from the full scene image on the plate, the purple nail is the tree but really hard to tell here. I love how the pumpkin in black has turned out on my little finger and the other 2 images are fab too.

I love all the images on this plate and there are so many options for halloween nails - I cant wait to create some manis.

For those of you wanting to know these are the polishes and stamper I used. All from Rainbow Connection. The black - Painted Polish Midnight Mischief is the best I have used and its a one coater so can be used as a base.


This plate like all the other Dixie Plates is amazing. The images are well etched and pick up beautifully. The other thing I love is the size of the images because I have long nails and they are a good size for them! I will have lots of halloween manis coming up soon using this plate so keep a look out for them and I will also be using the birthday images to do my own birthday nails in a couple of weeks time!

Barry M Molten Metal Swatches

Hello Again, Today on my blog I have swatches of the 5 new Barry M Molten Metal polishes. I never tried the original 4 which were released last year but I decided I liked the look of these so would give them a try. I got them on 2 for £7 from Boots but they are also available from Superdrug (I will leave links below) Barry M are probably my favourite high street brand and I like a lot of their finishes and different effects. What I also loved about these are the big, flat brushes because I really find they help get an even coat across the nail in minimal brush strokes. As with all the Barry M polishes I have tried I couldn't find any fault with the formula - they applied like a dream, I'd forgotten just how much I like them if I'm honest - they are just as amazing as some of my favourite indie brands. Poundland Make Up Gallery Nail Polish

Happy Sunday Nail Lovelies. A few weeks back I was in Poundland and I thought while I was there I would grab a few polishes and bits to review, for £1 each I thought i'd have a try. I settled on 3 of the pastel creme colours, a glitter, the base/top coat and a cuticle oil so in total £6 which is less that 1 of my favourite indie polishes! I started by applying the glitter to my little and index finger - I did this over a peel off base coat because I hate glitter removal! Peel off bases are amazing invention, I am currently using the Miss Sporty one which I have found pretty good, I don't really have the same polish on for long enough to do a good wear test though! Anyway the glitter I chose was a clear/silver holo, very pretty and very sparkly and I did like how it looked over my peach acrylics. How to apply Magpie Products

It's a new week and I hope you all have some gorgeous manicures planned. I was meant to post this on Friday but things got in the way but at least I am posting!! I will get on top of my blogging schedule soon...I promise!! So as a nail technician I like to use lots of different products and currently one of my most popular is Magpie Beauty glitters and dusts. These are the most amazing sparkly products that can really bling up a manicure, they are fab so today I'm going to show you how I use them with gel polish. I am going to show the application technique for glitter, dust and pigments.
